Atlanta Improvisors Orchestra
“Something marvelous this way comes when the Atlanta Improvisers Orchestra & Chorus performs at Gallery 992. An exemplar of the art of improvisation, the AIO&C can vary from a small ensemble to dozens of members, some highly skilled professionals, others more casually but no less passionately inclined. Performances are built on a framework called conducted improvisation or “conduction,” whereby a chosen leader directs the orchestra using hand gestures, which serve as minimally cumbered guidelines for playing an instrument or singing in groups or solo.”
